The dream bike has finally arrived at home. Because the price is quite expensive for my pocket, the feeling of doubt is often raging. Either need or just want style, because I still have a  Strattos S3 which has no problems at all.

But because the money is there, the result of saving since the start of the pandemic, so I dared to come directly to Rodalink Road bike Singapore. And like it or not, because it was already there, finally bought it .

After using it for 200 kilometers, I want to write a little review of how this bike feels. Here’s a screenshot on my Strava account.

To note, I’m not an athlete, my cycling strength can be said to be in the middle. Not a beginner, but not an expert either. If there is a rating of 1-10, I rate myself at number 7.

Disadvantages of Strattos S8 Disc

I assume, if you are reading this article from the search results, then there may have been a purchase intention. But doubt. Therefore, I will write down the shortcomings first, so that I have more doubts.

Not completely carbon yet

In the 2022 version of the Strattos S8 (and earlier versions), the Handlebar, Stem, Seatpost, Saddle, and wheelset are still alloy. If the seatpost, saddle, and wheelset are still understandable. But the Handlebar and stem are still alloy, this is quite annoying.

I have changed my Strattos S3, Handlebar and stem to carbon material, and the taste is different. Because it’s been too long using the S3 with the carbon handlebar, when starting to use the Strattos S8 with the alloy handlebar, the bearing part of the hand feels tired faster because it’s harder.

Therefore, I ended up buying a carbon handlebar and am waiting for it to arrive .

Hub is less noisy

If you hear from various reviews on Youtube, I think the Strattos S8 Road Bike hub is quite noisy. But it turns out that when heard directly, it is not noisy at all. If you know the Raze Hub, it’s only half as loud. .

Is this also a reason to change? Later, ah .

Advantages of Strattos S8 Disc

The disadvantages of the Strattos S8 are only a few, because the other is its advantages .

The saddle is really good

I’ve tried all sorts of saddle models, but this Entity Flux 2 is amazing. Possibly delicious because it fits the size of my ass. But really, this saddle is really good. Because it’s already good, that’s why there is no intention of changing the Saddle and Seatpost.

The bike is beautiful!

If you think that after seeing the photo of the Strattos S8 product, it is already handsome, then if you see it for yourself, the bike is more handsome than the photo. . I like to be amazed myself when I see the bike, “The bike is so cute” .

Disc brakes

Each derivative, I like to often get sore fingers because I often reach for the grip of the brifter when using the Strattos S3. When using disc brakes, it’s amazingly delicious. The fingers no longer need to press the brifter hard.

Carbon Frame

I haven’t had a carbon frame comparator on other bikes, so I can’t compare the carbon feel on other bikes. All I can compare is a carbon frame bike and an alloy frame bike. What’s the difference? I don’t know, but it’s different. .

Ultegra

When I first used the Strattos S3, the groupset used was a 9-speed Shimano Sora. After a few years, I switched to a 10-speed Shimano Tiagra. What’s the difference? Just the same . Possibly only difference in price and weight.

And when using the Strattos S8 with its Ultegra, what’s it like? Much different. Very. Gear shifting is very smooth. Just pressed, immediately moved. Without pause. .

Why did I hesitate to buy a Strattos S8 in the first place? Should be sooner the better.
